Retired September of 2018
As one of the founding partners of Dunbar, Bender & Zapf, Inc. After Jim’s 1976 graduation from Clarion State University, he began his employee benefits plan career in 1977. Jim worked on his first 401(k) plan in 1979 and his first ESOP in 1981. Since the late 1970s, Jim helped hundreds of clients with their 401(k), profit sharing and employee stock ownership plans.
Over his career, Jim was a frequent speaker for continuing education seminars covering retirement plan design, administration, and compliance. On a national level, Jim was selected to serve on the national TPA Advisory Council for John Hancock’s Retirement Plan Services Division and served on the TPA Advisory Council for Mass Mutual’s Retirement Plan Division for four years. Working with both large and small plans, Jim’s experience and knowledge of retirement plan compliance, investment platforms, payroll, and design consulting created a value-added expertise to DBZ’s clients.
In his retirement, Jim will be spending more time with his family and friends, traveling and increasing his charitable involvement.
